Some online services of the Federal Administration require a verified AGOV login. In this case, the identity of the user is uniquely verified.Identity verification is carried out online via ID/pass verification without live interaction with an agent, based on an official identity document (ID card or passport). A successful verification is valid for 5 years.

- A smartphone or a physical security key (FIDO2) with which you registered your AGOV login. If you have not yet registered an AGOV login, you will need one of these devices to register it, which will then be verified after registration.

- A quiet environment with good lighting conditions
- A payment method (or a «voucher code» issued by a Federal Administration unit). Costs CHF 14.50 (incl. VAT).
* Internet it is recommended not to perform video identification via VPN connections or from networks that heavily restrict network communication (e.g. corporate or administrative networks such as the Federal Administration network). This may prevent proper communication, especially access to the microphone and camera from the web browser.

- Capture of the identity document (ID card or passport)
- Recording of a selfie video
- Entry of the AHV number and place of birth (optional / recommended)
- Subsequent verification of the data by an agent (up to 24 hours)
- Email notification of the result (positive or negative)
If the ID/pass verification online is rejected, the process must be restarted. Additional costs may apply. A new attempt without private payment is only possible if a new voucher code is provided by a Federal Administration unit.

This means that your identity has been verified using an identity document. Your name, date of birth, gender and nationality are verified. The AHV number is not stored. This level of verification is sufficient for many online services of the Federal Administration.
What does a verified AGOV login with AHV number mean? ▼

This means that, in addition to identity verification, your AHV number has also been verified. This level of verification is required for online services with higher legal or security requirements.
