Manage «Bring-Your-Own-Identity» (BYOI)

Background

Bring-Your-Own-Identity (BYOI) refers to identities from external identity providers (Switch edu-ID, #edaLogin, GenèveID, ZUGLOGIN or eZug). These identities can be used within eIAM to log in to specialised applications.

Important:

  • Until 07.09.2025, these BYOI accounts were always linked to a CH-LOGIN. If no CH-LOGIN existed, a new one was automatically created by the system.
  • As of 07.09.2025, BYOI accounts are managed independently and are no longer linked to a CH-LOGIN.
    • Existing links to a CH-LOGIN remain valid, provided authentication factors (e.g. a password) are stored in the CH-LOGIN.
    • Existing links without authentication factors will result in the deletion of the corresponding “shadow CH-LOGIN”.
Logging in with the BYOI account remains, of course, possible.
