Overview

Here you will find instructions on how to upgrade your FED-LOGIN and thereby increase the quality of your login, for example to use GEVER applications. Additionally, you will receive support with the management and recovery of your login methods (Access App and security key).

Initial registration for FED-LOGIN-Upgrade totally smartcardless

If you have not yet completed a FED-LOGIN-Upgrade totally smartcardless, please follow this guide.

For users with an existing FED-LOGIN totally smartcardless password + Mobile ID

If you already use FED-LOGIN totally smartcardless with password and Mobile ID, you must switch to one of the login methods that will continue to be supported, such as the FED-LOGIN Access App and/or security keys (FIDO2), before the decommissioning of password-based logins on 10 May 2026. Please set up one of the login methods that will continue to be supported according to the instructions below.

Important notice: After the deactivation date, subsequent registration of the login methods that will continue to be supported will only be possible via the fee-based onboarding process.


Recovery FED-LOGIN Upgrade totally smartcardless

If you have already used FED-LOGIN totally smartcardless but can no longer use any of the registered login methods (FED-LOGIN Access App or security key), please proceed as follows:

  1. Open a support request with the FOITT Service Desk to reset your FED-LOGIN.
  2. Your FED-LOGIN account will be reset as part of the processing.
  3. You will be informed once your account has been successfully reset.
  4. After the reset, please follow the corresponding instructions to register FED-LOGIN-Upgrade totally smartcardless again.




Instructions for integration managers for initializing smartcardless onboarding

Persons from the Federal Administration who wish to invite end users with a personal identity managed in CIS to use FED-LOGIN for high-assurance authentications (e.g. for access to GEVER), without these end users being equipped with a smartcard.
